How to backup your DonorPlus data
 | Use any standard backup method like a tape drive, zip drive, CD-R
etc. If you don't have any backup hardware, then follow this procedure to put a copy
on a floppy disk(s), or at a minimum, to another location on your hard drive.
|
 | Use Microsoft Backup included with Windows 95 or 98 or Me. Please
Note: Windows Me needs to have Microsoft Backup installed manually. (Browse
to the MSBackup folder on the Windows Me CD-ROM and click on msbexp.exe to install
MSBackup.)
|
 | Click Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Backup
Please Note: If you don't have Backup, then install it from control panel
add/remove programs using system tools under the setup tab. |

 | Click on the + sign next to the c: drive, then click on the box
next to the DPLUS folder. This will put a check mark into the box.
|
 | Next, select File in the where to backup section and give
it the name A:\dplus.qic. (See below) |

 | Choose Options and turn off the verify option. |

 | Then click OK.
|
 | Click Job at the top left corner of the window, then click Save
As. |

 | Give the backup job a name like dplus files. Then choose Save.
|
 | Get 4 or 5 blank disks and put one in the disk drive. (The
number of disks needed will be determined by how many donors and gifts you have entered in
the program.)
|
 | Press the Start button.
|
 | A window will open up and the backup will start |

 | Insert additional disks as needed (the program will prompt you). |

 | Label each disk as disk 1, 2 etc. Store them away from the
center in case of a fire or theft etc.
|
 | Close the backup program when it is done.
|
 | Back up DonorPlus data files regularly. While it is best to
back up to another drive or some kind of removable media, if this option is not available,
follow the steps below to back up DonorPlus files to a separate folder on your hard drive. |
Open My Computer
Click on [C:]
Select: File>New>Folder
Enter "Backup" as the folder name
Highlight the dplus folder in the C: directory
Right-mouse click and select: Copy
Highlight the Backup folder
Right-mouse click and select: Paste
 | Double-click the Backup folder, then view with details to see that
the files are there. |
